At The Movies with Matthew Marshall


Matthew Marshall brings the tradition of
the silent movie back to Victory Hall Theatre.

Matthew Marshall holds an M.A. in Visual and Performing Arts from
Hollins University and he teaches "The Art of Watching Film" for UVA's School of Continuing and Professional Studies.

He is the founder and director of the Reel Music Ensemble, a group of classical musicians who perform his original music to classic silent films. Matt founded the Reel Music Ensemble to increase public awareness of these early cinematic treasures. He has been composing and performing for the VA Film Festival as well as other venues throughout the state since 2001.
