Thank you Scottsvilleā¦.For Making The Acoustic Jam a Great Success
Two years ago when we thought an acoustic jam might be a terrific activity for the Scottsville Center for Arts and Nature to undertake, we had no idea it would turn out as successful as it has. Friday, January 12 marked the beginning of our third year, and what a celebration we had. The Victory Hall Theatre was alive with music and dance mixed with a fantastic community spirit. We owe it to the musicians who have dedicated their second Friday evening of the month to the jam. And, we owe it to Scottsville and beyond for coming out in all weather conditions to share the evening with us.
For those unfamiliar with how our acoustic jam works, the musicians--most of whom have not had formal training--sit in a circle and take turns selecting the songs to be played. Often times, they know the song, but sometimes they need to listen once through before they can pick out the melody or the chords. It is an incredible experience.
Folks in Scottsville have been hearing about our dream for a couple of years now. Our day has come and we are ready to seize the opportunity that has been handed to us by Mary Hardy Roberts and Bobby Spencer. Their vision has given Scottsville a precious gift: The Scottsville Center for Arts and Nature. If anyone wants to know what the center is all about join us on on the second Friday of the month at 7 pm at the Victory Hall Theatre for our monthly acoustic jam and share the community spirit that permeates the space.
